A Proposal for a coach trip to The Farnborough Air Sciences Trust and its Wind tunnels

This is a collection of about 12  significant aircraft (some only partial) ranging from Lightning to a Puma. Inside the Building a great number of artefacts remaining from Royal Aircraft Establishment, including much of Sir Frank Whittles work with Power Jets Ltd and the development of the jet engine.
Further exhibits include avionic systems, the Royal Aircraft Factory 1914-1918, Bombs, missiles, and Target drones. Work on the UK nuclear Deterrent, RAE space, structural testing, Helicopter rotors, and the full scale model of Cody’s aircraft built to celebrate 100 years since the first flight in the UK.
A fully guided tour will be provided which will include coffee and an introductory talk, tour of the museum extending over the morning. The afternoon tour again will be fully guided and will cover the RAE wind tunnel installations and associated facilities. Each tour will last about 2 hours.
Lunch can be taken at local pubs or you can take sandwich box.


Travel arrangementsA 30 seater coach (or larger) will pick up at Cricklade Rugby Club car park 08.45am and at a suitable stop at Blunsdon House

The Royal Aeronautical Society Swindon
Guests of the above Societies are welcome but must be processed through that Society

There is no limit to the numbers attending, if we exceed 30 a larger coach can be taken and the costs will be reduced accordingly.

Costs

Estimated cost based upon getting 25 passengers is £40 per head.

Bunny Lees Smith will be leading this visit but in the first instance please notify Daphne Morton of your interest in attending by Tuesday 09 April 2019.
