Extraordinary Meeting – 2021
Wednesday 19th May at 7pm
Why we need an EGM
Basically, we need a meeting because it is now vital that we recruit members to help us run your society. If we are unable to attract more help the only option is to close down the society which, I know you agree, would be a great shame given its excellent record in providing stimulating lectures and visits over more than two decades.
Specifically, we need replacements for the Chairman who is retiring in June and the Treasurer. In addition, there are other tasks, such as publicity and grant approval, that would benefit from the involvement of a dedicated committee member.
We feel the best way to put the options for the future of the CSTS to you is by way of a Zoom meeting at which we can explain why this matter is now so urgent.
We would like to add that the work of the committee is not onerous and with the probable return of live lectures in the Autumn will once again become more sociable and stimulating.
On a personal note I would like to say that I am happy to help the new Chair, if needed, by acting as Vice-Chair up to the end of 2021 but I shall definitely be retiring at the end of June this year.
Similarly, Philip Twentyman, who retired as Treasurer last year but has recently been helping us out, says he is happy to help any successor during the hand-over and stresses that the role is not complicated and unlikely to involve more than half an hour each month. However, he will definitely not continue as acting Treasurer after June.
We look forward to seeing you at our Zoom meeting place at 7pm on Wednesday 19th May.
With best wishes
The meeting will be held at the usual Zoom room:
